Our next event is going to be a Bowl-o-ree.
We will be at Carmel Lanes. We are bowling to help support handicapped scouts.
The Bowl-O-Ree is used to support programs for youth with special needs in the Westchester-Putnam Council. This program benefits nearly 1,000 youth in approximately 20 different schools. The youth learn lifelong skills and Scouting values. The program takes place within their school classroom on a regularly scheduled basis and is implemented by two trained adult Scout staff members.
If you want to participate (and bowl for FREE) you must collect a minimum of $30.00 in pledges or real money. Of the money you collect, we (USY) keep 25%.
It’s a win – win – win for everyone. Special needs scouts benefit, we earn money for ourselves, and have fun. All at the same time.
We need to know who will be bowling (so we can reserve the correct number of lanes) by Monday February 18th. By the way, parents can bowl too.
The pledge form will be attached to the next email you receive. Download the form and ask a few people you know to support you in collecting a few dollars to help special needs scouts. Ask your aunts, uncles, teachers, neighbors... anyone you know well enough to have a normal conversation with. Just say,
I'm bowling to raise a few dollars for special needs scouts. Can you help?
We will be meeting for pizza before we bowl and we will be having a meeting after the Bowl-o-ree to discuss and plan events for the rest of the year and events for next year.
